Results of the IASC Data Analysis Competition 2025

The committee evaluated all competing posters, noted the overall high quality and relevance of the submissions, and decided to award the winning posters as follows:

1st place, including a travel grant (1500 EUR) and an invitation to submit their paper to the Journal of Data Science, Statistics, and Visualization (IASC), is awarded to I Nyoman Setiawan and Suryo Adi Rakhmawan (BPS Statistics Indonesia, Indonesia): Beneath the Surface: Uncovering Climate Impacts on Indonesian Fisheries and Livelihoods,

2nd place, including a travel grant (600 EUR), is awarded to Kohei Kubo (Doshisha University, Japan): Unveiling Periodic Dynamics of Urban Climate: Madrid’s Air Pollution Analyzed by a Periodic Time-Aware Tensor Decomposition Approach,

3rd place, including a travel grant (400 EUR), is awarded to Mengran Li and Daniela Castro-Camilo (University of Glasgow, United Kingdom): On the Importance of Tail Assumptions in Climate Extreme Event Attribution.

In addition, the committee awards an Honorable Mention for a promising work by a starting research team to Yiling Kuang, Xinyuan Song (The Chinese University of Hong Kong, China) and Kai Kang (Sun Yat-sen University, China): A Multi-Label Growth Curve Change-Point Model for Characterizing Multifaceted Dynamics in Multivariate Longitudinal Data.

All participants are cordially invited to attend the award ceremony at the World Statistical Congress. Further details will be announced in due course.
