Data Science, Statistics & Visualisation (DSSV) is an annual conference of the International Association of Statistical Computing aimed at bringing together researchers and practitioners interested in the interplay of statistics, computer science, and visualisation, and to build bridges between these fields for interdisciplinary research. The goal of this forum is to discuss recent progress and emerging ideas in these different disciplines that contribute to data science, statistics, and visualization. The conference welcomes contributions to practical aspects of data science, statistics and visualization, and in particular those which are linking and integrating these subject areas. Presentations should thus be oriented towards a very wide scientific audience, and can cover topics such as machine learning and statistical learning, the visualization and verbalization of data, big data infrastructures and analytics, interactive learning, advanced computing, and other important themes. We encourage informal contacts and discussions among all the participants.

Journal of Data Science, Statistics, and Visualisation

This international refereed journal creates a forum to present recent progress and ideas in the different disciplines of data science, statistics, and visualization. It welcomes contributions to data science, statistics, and visualization, in particular, those aspects which link and integrate these subject areas. Articles should be oriented towards a wide scientific audience, and can cover topics such as machine learning and statistical learning, the visualization and verbalization of data, visual analytics, big data infrastructures and analytics, interactive learning, and advanced computing. Papers that discuss two or more research areas of the journal are favored. Scientific contributions should be of a high standard. The journal explicitly welcomes contributions that include software with the aim of reproducibility of the results and application of the proposed methodology to other data by the reader. It is expected that data used in a paper are provided. JDSSV is an open access journal that charges no author fees.

Call for Papers for JDSSV Special Issue for DSSV 2025

Learning from data and data visualisation are important topics in the era of big data and artificial intelligence. Novel data science methods, classification models, statistical models and visualization tools are needed for prediction and inference based on complex data.

Related to the 9th conference of Data Science, Statistics, and Visualisation (DSSV 2025) organised by the International Association for Statistical Computing in the Kruger Park, South Africa, the Journal of Data Science, Statistics and Visualisation launches a special issue. Papers should be aimed at a broad scientific audience. We welcome novel contributions from all aspects of research, including theoretical and practical modeling, learning, and/or visualization of data, providing insights into the development and application of the field. Papers that provide a comprehensive review and comparison of existing approaches and have the potential to provide new insights are also welcome.

Submissions to this special issue should be done at JDSSV following the standard requirements of the journal and by selecting “Special Issue on DSSV 2025.” Submissions will follow the new JDSSV peer review process which guarantees publication of accepted papers by the start of the conference. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2025. Papers will enter the review process immediately upon receipt (i.e., editors will not wait until the end of the submission window to start the review process). All accepted papers will be published as a single special issue which will be available by the start of the conference.
