Call for Papers

The next European Conference on Data Analysis (ECDA) will take place in Paderborn,
Germany, 4-6 July 2018. ECDA 2018 includes the 42nd Annual Meeting of the GFKl Data
Science Society and the Symposium on Data Science Education of the European Association
for Data Science (EuADS). It will be located in the Heinz Nixdorf Museums Forum (www.hnf.de),
the world’s largest computer museum.

ECDA solicits contributions to theoretical as well as application-oriented research on topics in
the realm of data science, with a specific focus on data analytics. With its motto
“Multidisciplinary Facets of Data Science”, ECDA 2018 specifically emphasizes the important
interplay of disciplines involved in data science, most notably statistics and computer science.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
– Theory and Methods: Big Data; Clustering, Classification,
Discrimination and Regression;
Data Science; Databases and Data Management; Data Mining, Text
and Web Mining; Data Visualization; Dimension Reduction; Image
Analysis and Computer Vision; Impact of Technical Revolution and
Library Science; Knowledge Representation and Discovery; Machine
Learning; Mathematical Foundations of Data Science; Multivariate
Methods; Online Algorithms and Algorithms for Data Streams; Social
Network Analysis; Statistical and Econometric Methods;
Symbolic Data Analysis.

The Conference of Data Science, Statistics & Visualisation (DSSV 2018)

The conference of Data Science, Statistics & Visualisation (DSSV 2018) will take place on July
9-11, 2018 in TU Wien, Austria. This meeting shall create a forum to discuss recent progress
and emerging ideas in these different disciplines and encourage informal contacts and
discussions among all the participants. The conference welcomes
contributions to practical aspects of data science, statistics and
visualisation, and in particular those which are linking and integrating
these subject areas. Presentations should thus be oriented towards a
very wide scientific audience, and can cover topics such as machine
learning and statistical learning, the visualisation and verbalization of
data, big data infrastructures and analytics, interactive learning,
advanced computing, and other important themes.
A high-level scientific program can be expected: After finishing now the abstract reviewing
phase, there will be 60 oral, 20 short oral and 30 poster presentations to different topics in Data
Science, Statistics and Visualisation. In addition, 3 Invited Sessions from the International
Society for Business and Industrial Statisticsi (ISBIS), the Bernoulli Society, and the European
Association for Data Science (EuADS) will contribute to an exciting program. And of course, the
Invited Speakers Zeynep Akata, Mia Hubert, Eric Postma, Ryan Tibshirani, Sara van de Geer,
and the Keynotes Helwig Hauser and Xuming He will further ensure a high-quality scientific
program.
The preliminary program is now available at https://iasc-isi.org/dssv2018/agenda/. For more
details, please see https://iasc-isi.org/dssv2018/.
The TU Wien is situated in the very heart of Vienna, in the pulsating cultural centre of town.
Within easy walking distance are the Opera House, the art nouveau Secession building, the
Musikverein, home of the Vienna Philharmonic, from which the New Year’s Concert is annually
broadcast around the globe, and the splendid baroque Karlskirche (Church of St. Charles).
