Call for Papers
The next European Conference on Data Analysis (ECDA) will take place in Paderborn,
Germany, 4th-6th July 2018. ECDA 2018 includes the 42nd Annual Meeting of the GFKl Data
Science Society and the Symposium on Data Science Education of the European Association
for Data Science (EuADS). It will be located in the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum (www.hnf.de),
the world’s largest computer museum.
ECDA solicits contributions to theoretical as well as application-oriented research on topics in
the realm of data science, with a specific focus on data analytics. With its motto
“Multidisciplinary Facets of Data Science”, ECDA 2018 specifically emphasizes the important
interplay of disciplines involved in data science, most notably statistics and computer science.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
– Theory and Methods: Big Data; Clustering, Classification, Discrimination and Regression;
Data Science; Databases and Data Management; Data Mining, Text and Web Mining; Data
Visualization; Dimension Reduction; Image Analysis and Computer Vision; Impact of Technical
Revolution and Library Science; Knowledge Representation and Discovery; Machine Learning;
Mathematical Foundations of Data Science; Multivariate Methods; Online Algorithms and
Algorithms for Data Streams; Social Network Analysis; Statistical and Econometric Methods;
Symbolic Data Analysis.
– Applications: Archeology; Biostatistics; Business and Management; Economics; Education;
Engineering; Finance; Geosciences; Industrial Automation; Linguistics; Marketing; Medicine and
Health Care; Musicology; Psychology; Risk Management; Social Sciences.
Important dates:
– Abstract submission deadline: April 1, 2018

COMPSTAT 2018
The 23rd International Conference on Computational Statistics will take place in Iasi, Romania,
28-31 August 2018. A number of tutorials will be given during the conference. The conference is
sponsored by the European Regional Section of the IASC and is organized by the Alexandru
Ioan Cuza University of Iasi.
Details are available from web site at http://www.compstat2018.org/index.php
Joint Summer School on Clustering, Data Analysis and Visualization of Complex Data
The Joint Summer School on Clustering, Data Analysis and Visualization of Complex Data will
take place in Catania, Italy, on 21-25 May 2018. The summer school is a joint effort by ERS-
IASC (European Regional Section of International Association for Statistical Computing) ECAS
(European Courses in Advanced Statistics) and CLADAG (Classification and Data Analysis
Group of the Italian Statistical Society). More details can be found at http://www.clucla-summerschool.org/
The Conference of Data Science, Statistics & Visualisation (DSSV 2018)
The conference of Data Science, Statistics & Visualisation (DSSV 2018) will take place on 9-11
July 2018 in TU Wien, Austria. This meeting shall create a forum to discuss recent progress and
emerging ideas in these different disciplines and encourage informal contacts and discussions
among all the participants. The conference welcomes contributions to practical aspects of data
science, statistics and visualisation, and in particular those which are linking and integrating
these subject areas. Presentations should thus be oriented towards a very wide scientific
audience, and can cover topics such as machine learning and statistical learning, the
visualisation and verbalization of data, big data infrastructures and analytics, interactive learning,
advanced computing, and other important themes.
The conference will feature the keynote speaker Jerome H. Friedman (Stanford University) and
Helwig Hauser (University of Bergen). The deadline for abstract submission is 9 April 2018,
subject to no other postponement. The DSSV2018 scientific committee encourages and
welcomes you to submit your abstract. We look forward to receive many exciting contributions!
