Tenure-track position in Computational Statistics
The Faculty of Mathematics and Geoinformation invites applications for an Assistant Professorship – Tenure Track position in Computational Statistics, in form of an initially fixed-term (6 years) tenure track position starting from September 1st, 2021. The candidate and TU Wien can agree upon a tenure evaluation, which when positive, leads to an Associate Professor position with an unlimited contract.
The tenure-track position is affiliated to the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics, E105, research group Computational Statistics, E105-06.
Responsibilities:
Research:
The successful candidate is expected to conduct a high quality research program in the field of computational statistics. The selection will be mainly based on the excellence of previous scientific achievements and on international scientific reputation of the candidate.
Teaching:
The successful candidate is expected to be able to conduct independent teaching in computational statistics, data collection and survey methodology, statistical methods in data science (also in German language) and exercise classes in the Bachelor and Master programs, and will contribute to the supervision of students from bachelor to doctoral level.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in mathematics / statistics and have an outstanding research and publication record in computational statistics. Besides opening up new research topics, links to the main areas of research of the group Computational Statistics are highly desirable. Experience in teaching computational statistics courses/tutorials and in autonomous organisation of exercise sessions and seminars will be highly appreciated. Also experience in raising research funds and managing scientific research projects is expected. If the candidate’s knowledge of German is not sufficient, the willingness to learn German is expected.

Starting date: The expected starting date is September 1st, 2021.
Salary:
The employment starts as University Assistant with a minimum salary of EUR 3.945,90 gross (14 x per year) according to the collective bargaining agreement for a PostDoc. After signing the qualification agreement, the employment is as Assistant Professor with a minimum salary of EUR 4.666,30 (14 x per year).
